Edward Joseph Grimes, Jr.

Edward Joseph Grimes, Jr., 96, of Ambler, PA died peacefully in his sleep on February 27th at Spring House Estates in Ambler, PA. A lifelong resident of Pennsylvania, Ed was born January 1, 1925 in Philadelphia to Edward and Claire (McBrearty) Grimes. He attended Radnor High School where he graduated in 1943. Ed was married on October 1, 1949 to Jean Lillis in the Villanova Chapel. He retired from Main Line Commercial Pools in 1986. He served during WWII as a 2nd Lt Bombardier Navigator in the Army Air Corp. During the late 50’s and early 60’s, Ed was the President of the King of Prussia Baseball League and coach for the Pop Warner Football Association. Ed enjoyed gardening and was famous for his tomatoes. He loved nothing more than being with his family and friends. Ed and Jean loved to travel. They spent their summer vacations in Ocean City, NJ and their winters in Marco Island, FL. He is survived by his wife Jean. His children, Michael (Marcia), Gary (Pat), Tom (Barbara), and Diane (Adam). Grandchildren are Gavin (Lori), Michael (Elaine), Brian (Ashley), Katie (Phil), Amy (Sean) and Matthew. Great-grandchildren Owen, Katelyn, Brielle, Christian, Madison, Brooke, and Sophia. His only sibling, Frances, deceased. A celebration of his life will be held in the spring.
