Edward Michael Lucas

October 27, 1924 — May 27, 2021

Edward Michael Lucas passed peacefully on May 27, 2021. Always young at heart to the last of his full, productive and fun-filled 96 years, he will be remembered with a fond smile by those whose lives were enriched by his character-defining quick wit and generous spirit. Graduating from Penn State with the Class of ’47, Mike’s career took off with General Electric, the last 40 years of which were spent in King of Prussia, where he lived for over 60 years and was an active member of Mother of Divine Providence church. Penn State remained woven into the fabric of Mike’s life through football—missing very few games. He was also an avid fan of the Philadelphia Phillies and Eagles, rooting for them from his armchair. For Mike entertaining was a life-long passion. His corny jokes, creative ethnic cooking, and sheer appetite for life leaves an imprint that will endure, as will the legacy of his love for Big Band music and polkas, crossword puzzles, and above all, his family. A resident of King of Prussia, he was born on October 27, 1924 and raised in Dunmore, PA, the son of the late Michael and Olga (Gordich) Lucas. Michael was married to the late Ella Mae (McGreevy) Lucas for 55 years, with whom he shared the love of family, traveling, and joy of life. He has two daughters: Michele Lucas (Roy Collins) and Donna Lucas-Mudd (Colin); four grandchildren: Keri Collins-Mooney (Nate Mooney), Kelsi Fontaine (David), Timothy Mudd (Jen) and Jennifer (Mudd) Naiff (Adam); and three great-grandchildren: Connor and Aislinn Collins-Mooney, and Chloe Naiff. In his passing, he joins his brother and sisters: John Lucas, Marian (Lucas) Russin, and Ann (Lucas) Russin, all from Dunmore, and Pauline (Lucas) Lakatta, from Wilkes Barre and Maryland. The immediate family will hold a private service at Calvary Cemetery, and a Celebration of Life at a later date, when the family can gather safely. Dad, we hope you’re 'In The Mood' for some Stardust. Do say ‘Hi!’ to Glenn Miller. Mike found later in life that, surprisingly, he had a deep love of cats. In lieu of flowers memorial contributions can be made in his memory to: Alley Cat Allies (https://www.alleycat.org).
