Edward Francis Rath

Edward Francis Rath died in New York City on October 22, 2012 in NY Presbyterian Hospital. Edward was born in Bridgeport, PA on February 24, 1925 to James and Ethel (McCoy) Rath. A veteran of the US Navy, he served in World War II. He is survived by his sister, Jean McQuaid and by many adoring nieces and nephews and their families. Mr. Rath was predeceased in death by his other siblings, Hazel Murray and James Rath, Jr. and a special great nephew, JT.Edward spent most of his adult life on the Upper East Side of NYC. His rich working life spanned several professions. Late in his career, he returned to school to earn a degree in nursing. He served many years in the Burn Unit at NY Presbyterian Hospital and continued to volunteer at the hospital after his retirement until his death.Edward will be remembered by his loving family and many friends for his gentle spirit and love of life. He will be greatly missed by all.A Funeral Mass will be held at St. Augustine R.C. Church, 464 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Saturday, November 10, 2012 at 10:00 AM. Visitors may call from 9:00 to 9:45 AM at the church. Burial will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.Edward has requested no flowers.
