Edward A. Samanns, 96, of Tacony in Philadelphia, passed away on Saturday, August 22, 2020 peacefully, at Wesley Enhanced Living in Pennypack. Edward was born in the Port Richmond section of Phila, PA on September 2, 1923, son of the late Leona M (Braun) and Henry Samanns. He was a loving brother to the late Leona C., Anna, William, Joseph, Josephine (Smith), Alphonse and Robert. He served his Country by enlisting in the United States Navy for six years (1942-48) and received several medals upon his discharge. He worked many years at Simonds Abrasive Company until they closed. He also worked for the City of Philadelphia Water Department as a Maintenance Mechanic. He was a former member of St. Leo the Great Church along with Our Lady of Consolation Church until he entered Wesley Enhanced Living in December 2018. He was the beloved husband of Theresa H. (Gorman) Samanns for 67 years. They were married in 1953. Ed enjoyed many years with Theresa attending weddings, christenings, birthday and anniversary parties for their family and friends and occasional visits to the Casino. They were totally devoted to each other. He will be sadly missed by his wife, Theresa and many loving nieces, nephews, family & friends. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing Thursday morning 9:30 to 10:30 AM followed by the Funeral Mass at 10:30 AM at Our Lady of Cosolation Church, 7056 Tulip Street in Philadelphia. Interment will be at St. Dominic's Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Our Lady of Consolation Church.
