Edwin Germaine Young

May 28, 1926 — March 21, 2016

YOUNG Edwin G. Young, age 89, died on March 21, 2016.  He was the son of Walter and Cecelia Mlodzinski and predeceased by sisters  Pearl, Val Rodowicz (Fran), Ceil Reis (Bud), Loretta Agnew (Wayne) and brother Ted Mlodzinski (Isabel).   Ed was raised in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia and lived in Wyncote and Jenkintown for close to sixty years.  He served as the postmaster of the Wyncote post office for over 35 years and was involved with the Elkins Park Rotary Club. He is survived by three daughters; Anita Young, a retired Philadelphia schoolteacher; Michelle Peretz (Amiel) of Pound Ridge, New York, where she is a homemaker and artist; and Melissa Ashton Young of Jenkintown, where she serves as a borough council member.  Mr. Young is predeceased by his son, Edwin Germaine  of Pahoa, Hi. where he was a sculptor and furniture maker.   He is survived by nine grandchildren; Eric Rauscher and Stefanie Curry (Tad); Anthony Young; Devon and Stahsha Lach; Taylor and Dylan Peretz; Ashton and Jake Dobson.  He also had four great grandchildren and many many nieces and nephews.  Mr. Young's life-long love of animals led him to the breeding and showing of Weimaraners, German-bred pointers.  He also served as scoutmaster for his son's Boy Scout troop, was an avid runner and loved to cook.  His leisure time was a spent on the beach in Ocean City, New Jersey.  In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made in his name to the Humane Society of Ocean City, NJ, 1 Shelter Rd, Ocean City, NJ 08226 and Boy Scouts of America Cradle of Liberty Council, 1485 Valley Forge Rd., Wayne, Pa 19087.  Services will be private.
