Eileen C. Michel, 64, of Warrington, PA passed away peacefully Sunday, August 7, 2022 at Abington Memorial Hospital. Eileen was born in Philadelphia, PA on July 27, 1958, the daughter of Angeline (Hagis) and Francis Cooker. Beloved wife of Robert H. Michel; Loving mother of John (Colleen) and Jacqueline Murphy (Gene); Devoted Grandmother of Molly, Keegan and Erin. Eileen is also survived by her loving parents Francis and Angeline Cooker, her brothers Frank (Donna), Louis, James and John Cooker (Stephanie); her Mother-In-Law Rosemary Michel (predeceased by the late Richard H. Michel), and by her many nieces and nephews. Eileen attended St. Catherine of Sienna elementary school in Horsham, Hatboro- Horsham High School, and became a certified dental assistant following successful completion of the program at Montgomery County Community College. Eileen worked for many years in the ‘80s with Dr. Stanley Nagahashi in Ambler who she adored. Dr. Nagahashi sang beautifully at her wedding. Eileen met Bob in high school and they married in 1982. They relocated to Lebanon, PA in 1983 for his job and she went to work with Rick Knowlton in his first foray into private practice in Elizabethtown, PA. She loved her time there and was sad to leave in 1991 when she and Bob returned to Horsham for his new position with Wyeth. Tiring of the demands of dental assisting, Eileen’s love for children led her to an eight-year position at Kinder Care in the infant care room. Eileen accepted a position at Nativity of Our Lord School in 1995 in the CARES program that provides before and after school care and supervision of students. She was still working on a part-time basis last school year and was planning on returning this Fall. Wanting to improve her knowledge and capabilities, in 2009 Eileen graduated from Bucks County Community College with an Associate of Arts degree in Early Childhood Education. She was rightfully proud of her achieving inclusion on the Dean’s Honor List. When not at CARES, Eileen worked part-time at St. Paul’s Preschool in Warrington. She worked with various preschool-age groups while there and always enjoyed the children and her interactions with her co-workers and was looking forward to the start of the new school year. While her working career was important, Eileen thrived on being able and available to help her friends, coworkers, and family; remembering them on birthdays and holidays with a card, a call, text messages (the emoji queen usually included 10 hearts or praying hands on messages) and gifts. She hosted many holiday meals for her family and always made certain that there were plenty of desserts available. Eileen thoroughly loved being a mother to John and Jacqueline. She helped with homework, making lunches, and in chauffeuring them to and from many sports and dance practices and games. Many a practice trip home led to a stop at the 7‑Eleven for a Slurpee. The arrivals of her grandchildren over the last three years gave her great joy and happiness. She was referred to as Mem (what John called her in his early speaking days). She and Bob were hoping to do some travel next year (especially to Ireland her favorite place) once her health improved a bit more. While Eileen experienced many health issues and operations, she always rebounded to be her joyful, loving, and giving self. She’ll be remembered for what she gave of herself: the smiles, the easy laugh, the little gifts, hugs and kisses, and her ever-giving heart. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing from 5 PM to 7 PM on Thursday, August 11, 2022 at St. Cyril of Jerusalem Church, 1410 Almshouse Road in Jamison, PA and to her Funeral Mass that will be celebrated there on Friday, August 12, 2022 at 10:30 AM. Her interment will follow at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, 3301 W Cheltenham Ave, Philadelphia, PA 19150.
