Elinor F. Brophy

Elinor F. (Zickel) Brophy passed away on Monday, November 1, 2010 at Bryn Mawr Hospital. She was 79. Mrs. Brophy, a homemaker, was a resident of King of Prussia, PA. Elinor was a member of Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia, PA. After attending West Chester College, she began work at Wanamakers in Philadelphia where she met and married her late husband Joe. Continuing to work, she raised her family with a strong, protective and loving hand. In retirement, she continued to be an avid reader and gardener while devotedly giving herself to her family and extended family. Born in Glenolden, PA on February 19, 1931, she was a daughter of the late Raymond E. and Anna (Rutter) Zickel. She was the wife of the late Joseph X. Brophy, Sr., who died in 2009. Surviving is her loving family including three sons: Joseph X. Brophy, Jr. of King of Prussia, Timothy M. Brophy of King of Prussia and Denis E. Brophy and his wife, Karen of Lansdale; a daughter, Teresa A. Schwartz of King of Prussia; three grandchildren: Kyle G., Camryn L. and Kelly L.; two great-grandchildren, Adam S. and Kara L.; and many nephews and nieces. She was preceded in death by a brother, Raymond Zickel and a sister, Claire Zickel. Relatives and friends are invited to her Memorial Service at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Thursday, November 4, 2010 at 7:00pm. Interment will be private at the request of the family. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Elinor's memory to the American Cancer Society, 1626 Locust St., Philadelphia, PA 19103.
