Betty C. Huston (nee Cornell) died peacefully at home on May 1st at age 90. Born and raised in Teaneck, New Jersey, Betty found early success as a New York model, and then as an author and lecturer on teen grooming and manners. Beloved wife of the late John J. Huston for 58 years, Betty was the devoted mother of three and a paragon of homemaking, with a flair for decorative crafts and a love of golf shared with her husband. As her children grew, she earned a degree in Education at Chestnut Hill College and served into her 80’s as a primary school reading tutor. She was a dedicated supporter of Project Rainbow (now the Dreuding Center), organizing clothing drives and benefit golf events. In recent years, she found renewed recognition and new readers when a young author wrote her own story of finding success following “Betty Cornell’s Teenage Popularity Guide.” She is survived by her children and their spouses Betsy Fadem (Bruce), Jack (Harriet) and Connie Hurlbut (Steve), and nine grandchildren (Brian, Brad, Jake, Hattie, Nick, Will, Chris, Jack and Maggie). The family gives thanks for Rose Severe her dedicated caregiver, who sustained her in her final months. Relatives and friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, May 6th from 9:30 to 10:15 a.m at St. Monica R.C.
