Elizabeth A. (Fitzgerald) Giannone

Elizabeth A. "Betty" (FitzGerald) Giannone passed away peacefully on Saturday, July 18, 2015 at Parkhouse Providence Pointe in Royersford, PA. She was 90. Mrs. Giannone was a resident of E. Norriton, PA. She graduated from Tredyffrin-Easttown High School in 1942 and Nursing School in 1945. She worked as a nurse at Bryn Mawr Hospital for 45 years. Betty was a devoted Catholic who was a member of the former Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bridgeport, PA. She enjoyed reading, playing the piano and spending time with her family. Born in Berwyn, PA on September 8, 1924, she was a daughter of the late Thomas P. and Clara (Johnson) Fitzgerald. She was the wife of the late Mario R. Giannone, who died in 2008. Surviving is her loving family including a daughter, Maribeth Giannone-Homan and her husband, Rick, of Reebersburg, PA; a son, John "Jay" Giannone and his wife, Julie, of E. Norriton, PA; and three grandchildren: Xavier, Isla & Emerson Giannone. She was preceded in death by four brothers: Rev. John J., Thomas, Claire and Donald.Betty's Funeral Mass will be celebrated at the Our Lady of Mount Carmel Worship Site, 502 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA on Monday, July 27, 2015 at 11:00 am. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 10 to 10:50 am, at the worship site. Interment will be private.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Betty's memory to the Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley Chapter, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
