Elizabeth Michelle Goines

Elizabeth “Liz” Goines, age 38, passed away peacefully, surrounded by family after a hard-fought battle with cancer, on Wednesday, April 12, 2023, at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia.

Born in Wilmington, DE on October 21, 1984, she was the loving daughter of Mary Goines (nee Potts) and the late James Goines. Liz was a graduate of John Dickinson High School. She spent most of her adult life mastering the art of cake decorating. Her talent was displayed at many places but her favorite place was Cakes By Kim. Liz's career interest changed to helping people and she pursued a job in the medical field. She started working with Brandywine Urology and later became a Medical Assistant, working under Dr. Steven Terranova. This quickly became her "jackpot" career where she loved what she did and developed an unbreakable bond with her work family. The support Liz received from her BUC family during her cancer journey was inspiring.

Among the many roles Liz played, including friend, sister, daughter and fiancé, her best role was hands down, a mother. Her undeniable love she had for her kids surpassed all. Her kids were her life, her pride and joy. She enjoyed watching Casey in sports, especially baseball. She encouraged his cooking skills and loved the homecooked meals he'd make. She lived for Cassidy's busy schedules and love for sequins, glitter and makeup. She spent the past 11 years with the love of her life, Chris, who has always been her rock.

In addition to her mother, Liz is survived by her fiancé, Chris Haggerty; her two children who she adored, Casey Prucino, Jr. and Cassidy Haggerty; her sister, Sue Stewart (Stew); her brother, Sam Goines (Shelly Ross); a niece, Tori Stewart and a nephew, R.J. Stewart; as well as close family members: Colleen Prucino, Gary Prucino, Barbara Creegan and Brenda Haggerty. She will be missed by many other loving relatives and friends.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Wednesday, April 19, 2023 from 5 to 7pm, at the McCrery & Harra Funeral Home, 3710 Kirkwood Highway, Wilmington, DE 19808.
