ELIZABETH JANE (BETTY) SMITH of Abington, loving Mother, Grandmother and Great Grandmother passed away after a brief illness on Friday morning surrounded by her family, she was 86 years old. A homemaker, she was preceeded in death by her beloved husband Charles of 63 yrs. Born on May 10th 1931 In Ambler Pa to Elizabeth and Hugh McLaughlin. She was an avid sports fan and especially liked the Philadelphia Flyers. In her younger days she was a cheerleader for the Philadelphia Eagles, and loved to share fond memories of those days. She is survived by her Daughters, Karen McKenna (Bill) of Warminster and Barbara Cavanaugh (Craig) of Naples, FL, her niece Marguerite Estis (Joe) and great nephew Joseph of Phoenixville, she was a devoted Grandmother ("Mom-Mom") to Jennifer Scott (G.Philip) of Philadelphia and Christine McLaughlin (Bernie) of Oreland. In addition to her Great Grandchildren, Kiera McLaughlin and Andrew Scott, she will be missed by her precious cat Chloe. She enjoyed spending time at the Jersey shore each year with her family as well as at the swim club with her friends. She was a kindhearted person who loved animals of all kinds, even feeding her outdoor friends the birds and squirrels each day. She will be sadly missed by her family and friends, and will be forever in our hearts. Family will greet relatives and friends from 9:15 AM to 10:15 AM at Queen of Peace Church 820 North Hills Ave, Ardsley on Wednesday February 21st. A funeral mass with be celebrated at 10:30 AM. Interment will be held at 1:00 PM at Washington Crossing National Cemetery in Newtown, Pa. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the SPCA of Montgomery County, 19 East Ridge Pike, Conshohocken, Pa 19428.
