In her 90th year, Elizabeth (Betty) Sweeney (nee MacElroy), on August 30, 2019, predeceased by devoted husband Harry J. Sweeney, Jr., mother of William (Jeanne), Patrick, and Michael (Betty). Survived by 10 grandchildren: Cheryl, Stacey, Brian, Shawn, Melissa, Jonathan, Sharon, Sarah, Colleen, and Meghan and 11 great grandchildren: Logan, Morgan, Isabella, Deanna, Dylan, Ryan, Steven, Sadie, Abigayle, Anthony, and Dominic. Betty was a graduate of Kensington High School and lived in Kensington for most of her early life. She was a life-long Frank Sinatra fan, lived more than 50 years in Northwood until 6 years ago when she moved to the Philadelphia Protestant Home (PPH) where she enjoyed resident life there, so many friendships and the many PPH volunteer activities and trips. Betty was formerly a member of St. James Seniors, other senior church groups and a long-time volunteer at Better Business Bureau. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Wednesday, September 4, 2019 from 10-11 AM followed by her funeral service at 11 AM both at The Philadelphia Protestant Home 6505 Tabor Rd. Phila., PA 19111. The family requests no mass cards and in lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the benevolence fund at The Philadelphia Protestant Home. Interment private.
