Eric Wellmann

Eric Wellmann of Wayne, PA, passed away peacefully on Thursday, December 22, 2016, with his daughter at his side in Bryn Mawr Hospital in Bryn Mawr, PA. He was 91. Born in the Ukraine, he moved to Germany as a child. After being shot down as a paratrooper in WW II, he and his wife, Betty, immigrated to the Germantown section of Philadelphia from Hamburg. Eric ran his own auto repair shop for over 20 years. He was active until his death, enjoying bike rides, kayaking, walks on the beach and being with his family. Born in the Ukraine, on July 26, 1925, he was a son of the late Gustav and Herta (Busenius) Woellmann. He was the husband of the late Betty (Vollus) Wellmann. Surviving is his loving family including a daughter, Heidi M. Larson and her husband, Tor, of West Chester, PA three grandchildren: Jay, Derek and Riley; and a sister, Frieda Green. He was preceded in death by a sister, Olga Leippi. Eric’s Memorial Service will be held at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Friday, December 30, 2016 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday from 1 to 2:00 pm. Interment will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA.
