Ethel Mae Burmester (nee Ebinger), 84, of Jenkintown, PA, passed away Sunday, September 15th, 2024 peacefully in her sleep surrounded by her children at Blue Bell Place, Blue Bell, PA.
Ethel was a proud identical twin, born in Philadelphia, PA on June 7, 1940, daughter of the late Mabel Eleanor (Wisler) and William Ralph Ebinger.
She was the widow of James W. Burmester Jr.
She was a longtime member of Calvary Presbyterian, Wyncote, PA, where she worked as a secretary for 20 years.
Ethel enjoyed spending time with her family, immediate and extended. Cape May trips every summer since she was born, almost all of them with her beloved twin Sister Lois Dooling (Ebinger) who left this world in 2020. She loved music and laughter, both of which manifest passionately within her four children. She also loved chocolate. Milk chocolate especially. She was an amazing cook, baker, seamstress, barber, advisor, confidant, mother, grandmother and friend.
Ethel is survived by her 4 amazing children: Jamie Burmester, James Burmester and his wife Joanne, Christopher Burmester and Suzanne Burmester. Her sister Susan Farley and Jack Farley and their children, Karen, Allison and Tara. Lois’ children, Jennifer Dooling, Chrissa Kowalski and Gary, and Peter Dooling and Maria. Her four grandchildren Caitlin and Rachel Burmester and Ian and Brody Burmester and their mother, Margaret Greenlee Burmester.
Public Visitation will begin at 10 AM on Friday, September 20th followed by a service at 11:30 AM at Calvary Presbyterian Church, 217 Fernbrook Ave. in Wyncote, PA, 19095, Pastor Jeannine Frenzel officiating. Please don’t wear black, Ethel requested for everyone to wear bright colors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Calvary Presbyterian Church.
Her interment will be in Hillside Cemetery immediately following the service.
