Ferdinand P. "Ferd" Morro passed away peacefully on Tuesday, June 9, 2015 at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital in Philadelphia, PA. He was 85. Mr. Morro was a resident of King of Prussia, PA. He was a graduate of LaSalle College High School, Class of 1947, and he received a degree in business from LaSalle College in 1951. Ferd worked as a Tax Auditor & Administrator for the Commonwealth of PA for 32 years. He also worked as an Assistant Superintendent at the Pennhurst Center in Spring City. Later he served as an administrator at COMHAR, a human services organization in Philadelphia. Fully retired, Mr. Morro served as an active volunteer at Hospitality House in Philadelphia, receiving the Outstanding Volunteer of the Year Award in 1999 for his service. Ferd was a member of Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia. He loved cooking for friends and family, anything to do with automobiles, and summers at the Jersey Shore in Longport and later in Avalon. Mr. Morro was a US Marine Corps veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving as a 2nd Lieutenant. After serving with honor in Korea, where he earned several medals and citations, he attained the rank of Captain in the reserves. Born in Philadelphia, PA on May 19, 1930, he was a son of the late James and Margaret (DeStefano) Morro. Surviving is his loving family including his beloved wife of 58 years, Patricia O. (O'Brien) Morro; a daughter, Jane (Hank) Mullany of Valley Forge, PA; a son, Paul (Rengin) Morro of Reston, VA; three loving grandchildren: John Mullany, Mark Mullany and Juliet Morro; a brother, Bob (Peggy) Morro and their family; and brother-in-law, Craig "Ace" O'Brien. He was preceded in death by his parents, and his twin brother, the Rev. James P. Morro, C.S.B. Relatives & friends are invited to Ferd's Funeral Mass at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, PA on Friday, June 12, 2015 at 1:30 pm. His viewing will be Friday from 12 to 1:20 pm, at the church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, W. Conshohocken, PA.
