Frances M. Joos

Frances M. (Mahoney) Joos passed away peacefully on Monday, July 8, 2024 at her son’s residence in Garnet Valley, PA. She was 90 years old.

Frances was born in Collingdale, PA on March 1, 1934. She was a daughter of the late Harrison and Edith (Rainey) Mahoney. Frances was the devoted wife of 60 years to the late Melvin Edwin Joos, who passed away in 2020.

Frances was a resident of Ridley Township for 64 years. She graduated from Notre Dame High School in 1952. After graduation, she was a Bell telephone operator and then worked as a nurse aide for many years. She always enjoyed hosting holiday parties and pool parties for her family in the summer. Frances and her husband traveled up and down the east coast with their children to explore campsites in their pop-up trailer. Frances later became an active member of many senior clubs in her local community. She traveled extensively with her husband throughout the continental United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as Canada, Central America, and the Caribbean. She was known for her youthful and adventurous spirit. She loved taken long walks, was an avid reader and greatly enjoyed watching British sitcoms. She also had a sweet tooth, which contributed to her delight in baking, but her favorite treats were peanut butter fudge and licorice. Frances had a love for cats and cherished spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She always had a story to share when they visited and will be dearly missed.

Frances is survived by her loving family including 2 sons, William Joos and his wife, Lauren and Michael Joos and his wife, Lorrie; daughter, Patti Greto and her husband, James; 7 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and many beloved others.

She is preceded in death by 2 brothers, John Mahoney and Daniel Mahoney; 3 sisters, Anges Webb, Peggy Hamilton, and Mary Mahoney.

Her funeral services are private at the request of the deceased.
