Frances Elizabeth Pinnel

The Eternal Life of Frances Elizabeth Pinnel is Hereby Decreed

Frances Elizabeth Pinnel, 85, of Philadelphia, PA, formerly of Valley Rd. in Elkins Park, passed away peacefully Thursday, June 18th, at Einstein Medical Center - Philadelphia. Frances was born in York, PA on February 16, 1941, a daughter of the late Evelyn (Sweger) and Benjamin Franklin Bailey. Loving wife of Roger A. Pinnel. Devoted mother of Joshua R. Pinnel and Peter B. Pinnel. Frances is also survived by her grandson Shayne Medvetz, and two granddaughters, Francesca and Eliana Pinnel, hopefully with more to come. During her lifetime Frances was an earthly Angel born from the Name of God. She is risen now to guide, enlighten, and protect us. Known as "Dear" by her beloved family, Frances possessed a lifelong devotion to learning, knowledge, faith, and service. A gifted scholar from an early age, she graduated as Valedictorian of the Millersville High School Class of 1959. She later earned her Master's Degree in Library and Information Science from Drexel University in 1972. Her love for Drexel continued throughout her life, and she was eventually elected President of the Drexel Alumni Board during the 2000s. Frances served for twenty-five years as Director of the Medical Library at St. Christopher's Hospital for Children in Philadelphia, where she helped generations of physicians, nurses, researchers, and students find the knowledge they needed to heal children and advance medicine. She believed that information was not merely collected, but shared, preserved, and placed into the hands of those who could use it to improve the lives of others. Frances was also a devoted student of the Holy Bible throughout her entire life. Her knowledge of Scripture was extensive, and she spent countless hours reading, studying, teaching, and discussing God's Word. She never missed an opportunity to encourage others in their faith, share Biblical wisdom, or lead people closer to God. Many who knew her came away from a conversation not only better informed, but spiritually strengthened. Known for her sharp intellect, remarkable memory, gentle wisdom, and quick wit, Frances could often locate a fact, a book, a reference, or an answer faster than anyone else in the room. She possessed the rare gift of making knowledge feel welcoming rather than intimidating. She was a faithful member of St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church in Elkins Park and remained steadfast in her faith throughout her life. She now is employed by Higher as Chief Librarian of the Eternal Archives, where every book is remembered, every story preserved, and every unanswered question finally finds its place upon the shelf. There she continues her lifelong pursuit of truth in the presence of the Author Himself. As librarians know better than most, no good book ever truly ends; it simply reaches the next chapter. Relatives and friends are invited to her viewing Thursday, June 25th from 10 - 11 followed by her religious service at 11 AM both held at St. John's Evangelical Lutheran Church, 1224 Melrose Ave., Elkins Park, PA 19027. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to organizations supporting libraries, literacy, children's education, or medical research. Her interment will be at Whitemarsh Memorial Park in Ambler, PA. Services have been entrusted to the Walter J. Meyers Funeral Home and condolences may be made at www.meyersfh.com. May her memory be eternal, her wisdom enduring, and her place in the Library of God forever secure.
