Francis E. Arnold passed away peacefully on Thursday, October 8, 2015 at his residence in Lansdale, PA. He was 97. Mr. Arnold worked as a truck driver for Stone Containers in N.E. Philadelphia, PA. He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church in North Wales, PA, the Knights of Columbus of the fourth degree and the Friendly Sons of Saint Patrick. Francis was a US Navy veteran of WW II, serving from 1942 to 1945 in the Atlantic and Pacific Theatres of Operation. He served aboard the USS Albermarle, USS Bougainville and USS Intrepid. Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 23, 1918, he was a son of the late Samuel and Celia (Walls) Arnold. He was the husband of the late Helen (Rayzia) Arnold, who died in 1993. Surviving is his loving family including a daughter, Pauline Corbi and her husband, Nicholas, of Montgomery Twp., PA; four grandsons: John Jr., Edward, Brian & Scott Kihm; ten great-grandchildren; a great-great-grandson; a sister, Matilda Schen of Southampton, PA; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by a brother, Bernard Arnold; three sisters: Lorraine Bass, Rita Florian and Marion Battot; and a grandson, Pfc Johnny Kihm, who was killed in action in Afghanistan in 2011. Relatives & friends are invited to Francis’ Funeral Mass at Mary, Mother of the Redeemer Church, 1325 Upper State Rd., North Wales, PA on Friday, October 16, 2015 at 11:00 am. His viewing will be Friday morning from 9:30 to 10:50 am, at the church. Interment will be in St. John Neumann Cemetery, Chalfont, PA.
