Francis V. 'Fritz' Collins

Francis V. "Fritz" Collins passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 24, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at his residence in King of Prussia, PA. He was 90. Mr. Collins was a graduate of the former Bridgeport High School, Class of 1942. He worked as a designer for Boeing Helicopter in Eddystone, PA. He previously worked for Continental Fiber and Tactair. Mr. Collins was a member of St. Augustine R.C. Church in Bridgeport, PA.Mr. Collins was a US Navy veteran of WW II, serving from 1943 to 1946 as a Pharmacist Mate in the European and Asiatic Theatres of Operation. He went to England for the Invasion of Normandy and later to Hawaii with the Marines for the Invasion of Okinawa. Born in Norristown, PA on January 10, 1924, he was a son of the late John and Edith Collins. Surviving is his loving family including his wife of 68 years, Serafina T. "Fanny" (Damiani) Collins; two sons, William Collins and his wife, Judy, of Cuenca, Equador and Steven F. Collins and his wife, Debbie, of King of Prussia, PA; a daughter, Francine Spence and her husband, James, of Whitemarsh, PA; 3 grandchildren: Clint, Devon and Brooke; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by a brother, James Collins.Mr. Collins Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Augustine R.C. Church Worship Site, 464 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA on Monday, July 28, 2014 at 10:00 am. The family will receive relatives and friends on Monday from 9 to 9:50 am, at the church. Interment will be in St. Augustine Cemetery, King of Prussia, PA.In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Francis V. Collins' memory to Alzheimer's Association Delaware Valley, 399 Market St., Suite 102, Philadelphia, PA 19106.
