Depman Frank J., 92, Civil Engineer of Blue Bell, formerly of Abington, a heavy construction contractor, loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and brother died on January 17, 2019. From 1953 until retiring in 1991, Mr. Depman was with Kaufman Construction Co, Inc. and was vice president and part owner at the time of his retirement. Among the firm’s projects were construction of the Phila. approaches to the Walt Whitman Bridge, the I-76 bridge over the Schuylkill River, the I-95 bridge over the Brandywine in Wilmington, the NJ section of the Betsy Ross Bridge, the SEPTA Commuter connection at 30th St., the substructure for the Passyunk Ave bridge over the Schuylkill River, the I-95 approach structures for the Baltimore Harbor tunnel, and the Olney Ave terminal for SEPTA. Mr. Depman grew up in the Mayfair section of Phila., graduated from Frankford High School and went directly into the infantry, serving in the Philippines at the close of WWII. He then attended the University of Pennsylvania, graduating in 1951. He returned to service in the Air Force during the Korean War for two years as a civil engineer and was discharged as a 1st Lt. He met his wife, Ruth Ebner, RN, when he was a senior at the U of P, and they were married in 1953. He was an active member of his church and engineering societies; a past president of both the Am. Soc. of Civil Engineers and Am. Soc. of Highway Engineers. Mr. Depman is survived by his wife Ruth, sons, Msgr. Frank, Dr. Stanley (Diane), John (Kathleen), Thomas (Anne) and daughters Diane (Greg) Tomezsko, and Ruth (Ed) Goebel. He is also survived by 20 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren. Family and friends are invited to his viewing Tuesday, January 22 from 10-10:50 AM and funeral mass at 11:00 AM both at Immaculate Conception BVM Church, 602 West Ave. Jenkintown, PA. Interment will be at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery. In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Misíon Santa Maria, Madre de Dios at PO Box 1019, Avondale, PA 19311.
