Francis (Frank) Dominick Ponzio, 85, passed away peacefully in his home with his family by his side on May 13, 2019. Frank is preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Helen (nee Spinelli) Ponzio. He is survived by his loving wife Dianne (nee Litishin), his 8 children: Frankie, Robin John (William), Damian (Jill), Dominique Bernardo (Jose), Angelique, John (Jennifer), Damico (Caryn), and Dominic, 13 grandchildren, sister Helena Motley, brother Henry, and numerous nieces and nephews. Born in Brooklyn, Frank early on learned to be resourceful as he navigated the city streets to get to school and part time jobs. His resourcefulness served him well as he served in the Korean War on the Midway in the Navy and then, within three years, graduated from St. John’s University. His military connection brought him to PA where he met his first wife, Leona (nee Bono), who passed away when their son Frankie was a toddler. Frank was blessed with love a second time when he met his wife Dianne, and together they had 7 more children. He worked at GE for over 30 years, providing for his family in a way that again demonstrated his determination, strength and focus that carried him through life. He was a proud father and grandfather, relishing in the accomplishments and successes of his children. He was a devoted member of Visitation BVM Catholic Church, and volunteered there for many years participating in the Athletic Association, Holy Name Society, Knights of Columbus, Boy Scouts, and Parish Council, and serving as a lector and Eucharistic Minister. Frank exhibited a unique sense of humor and his “larger than life” personality was loved by many. He was selfless in performing random acts of kindness many of which were unknown. Frank loved old movies, television game shows, and a hearty game of dominoes. He was a champion as he faced health challenges head-on over the years with a faith and determination that carried the family. Those wishing to make a donation in his memory, can donate to Visitation BVM Church, Trooper, PA. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 5:30 to 8 pm Friday, May 17, 2019 at Visitation BVM Upper Church, 196 N Trooper Rd. Norristown, Pa. 19403. A second viewing will be held at the church from 9 to 10:45 am Saturday, May 18th followed by a funeral mass at 11 am. Interment will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery, Phoenixville.
