A very special man by the name of Francis X. Stone passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 17, 2016, surrounded by his loving family at his residence in King of Prussia, PA. “Stoney”, as he was commonly known, was 92. He worked as a Supervisor of the Composing Room at The Bulletin newspaper in Philadelphia, PA and also ran his own small letterpress printing business. He was a graduate of St. Thomas More High School in Philadelphia, Class of 1943, and a US Navy veteran of WW II, serving primarily as a radioman on submarines. He was a founding member of Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia. Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 30, 1924, he was the son of the late Frank B. and Mary (Byrne) Stone. He was the husband of Kathryn J. (Sheridan) Stone, with whom he would have celebrated 66 years of marriage in April. Surviving in addition to his wife are three daughters: Jill Stone of Oley, PA, Gail Stone and her husband, Matt Fishbein, of Brooklyn, NY and Jacquie Stone and her husband, Paul Carney, of Lansdale, PA; six grandchildren: Jeremy, Jared (Caitlin, his wife), Harry, Jordyn, Sophie and Nathan; and many loving family members. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Helen, Marie and Catherine. Francis’ Funeral Mass will be celebrated at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, on Tuesday, March 22, 2016 at 10:30 am. The family will receive relatives and friends on Tuesday from 9 to 10:15 am, at the Church. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, W. Conshohocken, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Salvation Army, 533 Swede St., Norristown, PA 19401. Arrangements are by The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., Bridgeport, PA.
