Francis (Frank) Walter Vargo, of Norristown, 91, passed away peacefully in his sleep on Feb. 13, 2021. Born in Swedesburg on July 19, 1929, Frank was the son of John & Veronica (Svenda) Vargo. He was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Helen Marie (Ferko) of Phoenixville. Frank was the “Last Mohican” as he liked to say of 11 children: Mary, Emma, John, George, Andrew, Phillip, Steven, Thomas, Joseph and Michael. Frank was a member of Our Mother of Sorrows Church in Bridgeport until he moved to Norristown where he was a dedicated church member of Visitation Blessed Virgin Mary Parish. Frank served in the Army during the Korean War and was stationed at Mount Fuji, Japan. After coming home from the war, he worked at Alan Wood Steel Co. in Conshohocken until they closed and then went to work at Evergreen Realty in Allentown until he retired. Frank loved polka dancing at the TK Club in Conshohocken and the Polish American Club in Phoenixville where he eventually met the love of his life (Tootsie). He later had the opportunity to meet polka legend Jimmy Sturr at the Great Allentown Fair in 2018. He enjoyed classic country music especially Johnny Cash and knew the words to all his music. Frank was an avid hunter always chasing after that 10-point buck. He had a love/hate relationship with the Philadelphia Eagles & Phillies, and you could always count on him to be yelling at the TV. He took great pride in maintaining his yard & gardens, especially his rose bushes. He enjoyed many great times at the Jersey Shore. His laugh was infectious, unique to only him and he was always there to lend a hand. With the help of his brothers, he built his forever home for he and his new bride. He was a carpenter by trade and was the “Go-To Guy” when it came to fixing things. Frank & Helen had 5 children: Judith V. Fulmer (Alex Bay, NY), Patricia A. Dill (Corpus Christi, TX), Sandra V. Young (Coopersburg), Frank J. Vargo (Deceased) and Victoria J. Vargo (Norristown). He is survived by 12 Grandchildren and 12 Great-Grandchildren.
