Francis W. Wolek

Francis W. Wolek, 81, resident of Shannondell in Audubon, PA passed away July 22, 2016. Frank was born in Brooklyn, NY, to Frank and Louisa Wolek. He graduated from Brooklyn Technical Institute (high school), received a BS from the Colorado School of Mines, and both an MBA and a DBA from Harvard Business School. He married Gloria (Peez) Wolek in 1956. Frank was an Eagle Scout with the Boy Scouts of America. He was Assistant Professor of Industry at the Wharton School and served as Deputy Assistant Secretary of Science and Technology in the US Department of Commerce during the Carter Administration. Following his government service, Frank taught at Villanova University School of Business for over 19 years. He retired from Villanova as Professor Emeritus. Frank had many interests throughout his life. He sang in the choirs at Shannondell and at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Stuart, FL. He earned a second degree black belt in Tai Chi, and was an instructor at Siu Liu Academy in Haverford, PA, as well as the YMCA in Stuart, FL. Frank also served on the Vasculitis Association Board. He spent over two decades as a judge and referee for the United States Figure Skating. Frank is survived by his wife, and trusted companion, Gloria, and their children Terri, Nan and her husband Matt, Michael, his wife Cindy, and their children Matthew and Sarah, and Bill and his wife Andrea, and their children Steven and Christopher. Funeral mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Audubon, PA at 10 am on Thursdy July 28. Family will receive relatives and friends after mass at Shannondell.
