Frank Kenneth Nielsen

Frank Kenneth "Ken" Nielsen passed away peacefully on Monday, June 9, 2014, with his loving wife at his bedside in his home in King of Prussia, PA. He was 88. Ken was a graduate of Tufts University with a degree in Mechanical Engineering. After graduation, he took a job with the Pennsylvania Railroad which was the remarkable start of a 39 year career with the same company and its successors. He was a member of the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd in King of Prussia, PA, the Masons in Camp Hill, PA and the retired Railroad Workers. Ken was known for his teasing sense of humor and love of family.Mr. Nielsen was a US Army veteran of WW II. He served as a Staff Sergeant from 1944 to 1946 in Germany. Born in Boston, MA on May 22, 1926, he was a son of the late Frank O. and Marie (Schnetzer) Nielsen. Surviving is his loving family including his devoted wife of 62 years, Shirley L. (Zimmers) Nielsen; his loving daughter, Gretchen A. Losty and supportive son-in-law, Edward Losty, of Williamsburg, VA; and a sister, Dorothy M. Gilliland of Cape Cod, MA. Ken delighted in the company of his five grandchildren: Peter, Kyle, Garrett, Bryce and Jillian Losty. He was preceded in death by a son, Peter Eric Nielsen.Relatives and friends are invited to Ken's Memorial Service at the Lutheran Church of the Good Shepherd, 132 E Valley Forge Rd., King of Prussia, PA 19406 on Friday, June 27, 2014 at 11:00 am. Officiating will be Rev. Julie Dewerth, Pastor.
