Frank Raus, a longtime resident of Audubon, PA, passed away peacefully on Saturday, March 18th, in the home he built with his own hands. Born on April 27, 1927, in Cleveland, OH, Frank was very proud of both his Lithuanian heritage and the Pennsylvania coal region, in which he grew up, especially St. Clair, PA. A 1945 graduate of St. Clair High School, he served in the 188th MP Company in World War II. A carpenter by trade, Frank was a member of the United Brotherhood of Carpenters Union, working most of his adult life in and around Philadelphia, having helped build the Breyer’s Ice Cream factory in Philadelphia and the Limerick Nuclear Plant in Limerick, PA. He was also very involved with BSA Troop 313 of Audubon, having served as Assistant Scout Master and Scout Master at various times in the 1970s and early 1980s.
An avid fisherman, Frank enjoyed boating, fishing and crabbing around the Rehoboth Bay during his retirement years. He was also a very skilled gardener, having maintained a large vegetable garden for decades, every spring and summer.
He is preceded in death by his mother Antose Raulinaitis (nee Yekaitis), his father, Stanley Raulinatis, sister Agatha Kurth (nee Raus), and sister Garnett Kazlauskas (nee Raus). He is survived by his wife, Patricia Raus (nee Kubilus), son Frank and his wife Tammy Raus (nee Yurick) of Pottstown, PA, son Gerard of North Wales, PA, son Ray and his wife Vicky Raus (nee Visosky) of Claremont, CA, son Glenn and his wife Audra Raus (nee Latham) of Daniel Island, SC, and son Barry and his wife Lynn Raus (nee Topolosky) of Haddonfield, NJ. He also leaves behind nine grandchildren: Lauren Weintraub (nee Raus), Doug Raus, Allie Raus, Peter Raus, Luke Raus, Sam Raus, Meredith Raus, Ben Raus and Caroline Raus, as well as two grandchildren in law, Ryan Weintraub and Jordyn Ruth, and two great-grandchildren, Leif Weintraub and Molly Weintraub.
A viewing will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Betzwood, PA on Friday, March 24th, starting at 8:30am until 9:45am. A funeral mass will follow at 10:00am at the same location.
A burial with military honors will be held at Indiantown Gap National Cemetery on Tuesday, March 28th at 11:30am, for family only.
