Gerald Royds

Gerald Royds passed away peacefully on Friday, August 16, 2013, surrounded by his loving family at Einstein Medical Center Montgomery in E. Norriton, PA. He was 82. Gerald resided in King of Prussia, PA and worked as a manager for the former Lee Tire Company in Conshohocken, PA, retiring in the 1990's. Gerald recently converted to Catholicism and was a proud member of Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church in Bridgeport, PA. He was an avid golfer, Philadelphia Sports Fan and a member of the Belmont Hills Men's Club. Mr. Royds was US Army Veteran serving in Germany during the Berlin air lift. Born in the Roxboro section of Philadelphia, PA on September 16, 1930, he was a son of the late Phillip F. and Alice (Palmer) Royds. He is survived by his loving family including his wife of 20 years, Marie C. (Logan) Royds; a son, Phillip Royds of Philadelphia, PA; two daughters, Patricia Bonacci of Philadelphia, PA and Veronica L. (Robert) Mabin of Malvern, PA; five grandchildren: Jayme (Rasheeda), Torie, Amie, Cynthia (Dan) and Nicholaus; two great-grandchildren, Alexsys and Eva; two brothers, Joseph "Mickey" Royds of Norristown, PA and Walter "Jimmy" Royds of Thomasville, NC; two sisters, Lillian Gibat of Thomasville, NC and Lorraine Axe of the Poconos, PA; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by two sons, Gerald J. Royds and James Andrews; and a brother, Charles Palmer. Relatives and friends are invited to Gerald's Funeral Mass at Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, 502 Ford St., Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Thursday, August 22, 2013 at 10am. His viewings will be Wednesday evening from 6 to 8pm, at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Route-202), Bridgeport PA 19405; also Thursday morning from 9 to 9:50am, at the Church. Interment will be private in St. Augustine Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Gerald's name to the above named Church. www.bacchifuneralhome.com
