Gerald J. (Jerry) Smith Jerry Smith, age 82, of Elkins Park, PA, passed away unexpectedly on January 29, 2022 at his home with his family by his side. He served St. James Church, Elkins Park, PA as a lector, eucharistic minister and choir member. A man of great faith, he had many friends and was respected and loved by everyone for his intelligence, kindness, and great sense of humor. He was a graduate of Father Judge High School (1957) and La Salle College (1961). He proudly served our country with honor as a First Lieutenant in the United States Army (Artillery). After retiring from the Intelligence Division of the U.S Treasury Department, he served as the Branch Chief of the Office of Attorney Ethics for the New Jersey Supreme Court before retiring in 2008. He was the son of the late Clayton and Agnes (Fidler) and is survived by his devoted and loving wife of 57 years Rita (Siemienski); his adoring sons, Mark (Stacy), Richard (Aimee Boehm), Michael (Meg) and cherished grandchildren Shannon, Ryan, Jenna, Corinne, Olivia, Ethan and Elena. He was greatly loved by his siblings Jeanne (the late Edward) Trasatti, Agnes (the late Louis) DiLanzo, Joseph (the late Grace), Nancy (Santo) Caruso and Mike (Marcy) and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his sisters Rita, Dorothy (the late Michael) Maglio and his beloved son Jerry. Relatives and friends are invited to his viewing from 8 to 9:45 AM followed by a Funeral Mass at 10 AM on Saturday, February 5, 2022 at St. James the Great Church, 8320 Brookside Road in Elkins Park, PA. Services will be live streamed on the church’s Facebook and YouTube channels. Burial will be held at the Washington Crossing National Cemetery, Newtown, PA on Tuesday, February 8, 2022 at 10:30 AM. In lieu of flowers, donations suggested to the Little Sisters of the Poor, St. James the Great Church or a charity of your choice. Services entrusted to Joseph J.
