Gerri Angelone was a devoted mother, grandmother, glamour-girl and consummate storyteller. She was a constant cheerleader, a walking resume of her family’s accomplishments, and a fierce defender of the brood. Whoever she met got an enthusiastic earful of tales, and it was in the telling that her love always came through. It’s the kind of relentless joy and indelible kindness that are authentic to few, but that Gerri had in spades. She stood tall (in 4-inch heels), and was always dressed to the nines, even if for a trip to the grocery store. People took notice of her beauty, but she chose to always reflect it back to them, launching compliments as easily as she’d pop nonpareils. Gerri had a thing for sweets, practical jokes, bling, watching the trains, Jeopardy, Al Pacino, baseball and talking on the phone. Gerri was raised in Springfield, MA but lived the majority of her life in Elkins Park, PA. She passed away due to complications from colon cancer. In her many health battles through the years, she showed herself bullet-proof. Her inner beauty shone like a beacon of light to her family, including daughter Laura Angelone and husband Glenn Pruyn, daughter Gina Angelone, son Mario Angelone and wife Ann, and daughter Maria Angelone and husband Ben McCormick. She was a devoted Nonna to Amadeo, Ariano, Gianna and Miles. And hands down, she made the best meatballs in town, but reminded us that her favorite meals were always the ones she didn’t have to cook. Relatives and friends are invited to her funeral mass Thursday, July 2, 2020 at 11 AM at Immaculate Conception BVM Church 602 West Ave. Jenkintown, PA.
