Geraldine "Gerry" Marie Fontaine

It is with deep sadness and gratitude for a life well lived that we announce the passing of Geraldine (Gerry) Marie Fontaine who died on September 24, 2026, at the age of 84 in Collegeville, PA.

Born on December 8, 1941, in Norristown, PA, Gerry was the beloved daughter of Dennis and Pauline (Bilyk). She lived her entire life in her cherished family home in Bridgeport, PA. She practiced her Catholic faith at St. Augustine and Sacred Heart parishes attending mass daily and contributing to the church community.

Gerry built a life centered on family, education, religion, and tradition.

Gerry graduated from Bishop Kenrick High School and received her bachelor’s degree in education from Cabrini College. She earned her master’s degree from Villanova University. She studied library science, and she was proud that she completed coursework toward her advanced degree in Hawaii. She went on to teach elementary school in Norristown Area School District. Later, she served many years as librarian at Norristown Area High School. She passed on a love of culture, travel, and continuous learning to her extended family.

Above all, Gerry cherished time with her family and friends. She never missed a family birthday, celebration or achievement. She loved to entertain her family on Christmas Eve and Easter in her home carrying on holiday traditions older than she. She welcomed all additions to the family with handmade Christmas stockings and Easter baskets, carefully assembled with love. On Christmas Eve, her living room was filled with piles of presents. Her generosity and thoughtfulness overflowed. Gerry also enjoyed dining out with her friends, traveling, quilting, and collecting Madame Alexander dolls.

Those who knew Gerry will remember her determination, strength, and generosity.

Gerry is survived by her brother Conrad Fontaine (Janet) of East Norriton, her nieces Carrie Davis (Tom) of Ambler, Christine Krempasky (Jesse) of Clarks Summit and Lauren Dixon (Sean) of East Norriton, and six great-nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to her viewing on Tuesday, October 6, 2026 from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at St. Eleanor Catholic Church, 647 Locust St., Collegeville. A funeral mass will begin at 11 a.m. Interment will follow at St. Augustine Cemetery in King of Prussia.
