Trudy

Gertrude Cecelia (Trudy) Cunningham, 73, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away Saturday, October 2nd, 2021 peacefully, at her home. She was a devoted daughter, wife, mother, sister, aunt and grandmother. She made lifelong friends wherever she worked and with whomever she met. She made everyone laugh and always put others first before herself. Trudy was born in Philadelphia, PA on June 2, 1948, a daughter of the late Gertrude (Devlin) and Thomas Sweeney. She is survived by her loving husband of 51 years John Cunningham. Trudy is survived by A son, Michael, husband of Kate Cunningham, of Jenkintown, PA; A daughter, Kristen Boyle of Jenkintown, PA; four grandchildren – Riley Boyle, Grace Boyle, Emma Cunningham, and Brendan Cunningham. She is also survived by her ten siblings -- Thomas (Luz), Michael (Debbie), Ginny O'Neill (Tom), Harry (Michelle), Shawn (Paula), Christopher (Donna), Linda Ward (Andy), Sharon Baker (Joe), Joanie Farrell (Jim), and Tony (Kelly); her aunt Ann Springer, and many nieces, nephews, and other family members. Trudy proudly graduated from West Catholic High School for Girls and entered the workforce as a bookkeeper at Firestone, followed by a long stint at Sears on Roosevelt Boulevard, and then Castor Ave Pharmacy. She finally retired from the MCS Group as Records Collection Associate and focused on spending her retirement doting on her “grandbabies”. Public Viewing will be held 6 PM to 8 PM on Thursday, October 7th and again from 8:30 to 9:30 AM Friday, October 8th both at Joseph J. McGoldrick Funeral Home, 507 West Ave. in Jenkintown, PA A Funeral Mass will be celebrated 10 AM on Friday, October 8th at Immaculate Conception BVM Church in Jenkintown, PA.
