Gloria R. Menna

Gloria R. Menna, of Jenkintown, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 18th, 2023, at the age of 97. Gloria was born in Philadelphia, PA on September 27, 1925, the daughter of Giacinta (Ferri) and Attilio Caruso. She is predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Adolph (Rudy) J. Menna.

Gloria graduated from South Philadelphia High School for Girls where she was known for her operatic voice. Before marriage she worked as a medical secretary both in private practice and at St Agnes Hospital in Philadelphia.

After marrying she became a homemaker raising two sons. Gloria was happiest spending time with her large extended family. An excellent cook, she happily passed her expertise onto the next generation.

Re-entering the workforce later in her life, she became Assistant Manager of the Gift Department at Strawbridge & Clothier in Jenkintown, retiring after 15 years of service.

A highlight of retirement was a trip to Vienna on her 50th wedding anniversary. Gloria and Rudy attended opening night of the Vienna State Opera before traveling to Loreto Aprutino in Italy to visit the city and family of her parents.

Gloria is survived by her sons Rudy (Ann Whiting, deceased) and Raymond (Mary Bergeron); five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.

Relatives and friends are invited to Gloria’s viewing at Immaculate Conception BVM Church in Jenkintown, PA 19046, on Friday, January 27, 2023, from 9:15am to 10:15 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:30am. Interment will be held at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery.
