Gloria P. Wolek

Gloria P. Wolek, 90, a resident of Shannondell in Audubon, PA, passed away on May 29, 2024. She is survived by her children: Terri; Nan Hunt and her husband Matt; Michael and his wife Cindy; Bill and his wife Andrea; and her grandchildren: Matthew and his partner Sarah Grace Stefan, Sarah Stout and her husband Ian, Steven, and Christopher.

Gloria was born in Grosse Pointe, MI, to Laurence and Helen Peez. She graduated from Marymount High School and later earned a BS from the School of Nursing at the University of Colorado. In 1956, she married Francis (Frank) W. Wolek and moved to Tulsa, OK, where she worked as a public health nurse. Later, she and Frank relocated to Boston, MA, where he pursued his MBA and DBA from Harvard University.

After settling in Wynnewood, PA, Gloria became active with the League of Women’s Voters and Wynnewood Civic Association. She was elected to the Board of Commissioners and became the first female President during her twenty-year tenure.

Gloria and Frank's retirement was filled with numerous activities, and they enjoyed lifelong learning on a variety of topics. They traveled extensively and immersed themselves in local culture and cuisine. Gloria's diverse interests reflected her curious and engaged mind. Her interests ranged from judging figure skating events, environmental issues, quilting, gardening, cooking, participating in church activities, and attending events sponsored by Shannondell, including gym workouts and many varied trips.

Gloria is reunited in peace with her beloved husband, Frank. May their guiding spirits comfort us.

A funeral mass will be held at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church in Audubon, PA on July 16th at 10 AM. The family will receive friends at Shannondell at Valley Forge at 1:00 PM.
