Gwendolyn “Gwen” (Why) Kohler passed away peacefully on Friday, June 16, 2017 at Seasons Hospice in Phoenixville, PA. She was 68. Mrs. Kohler was a resident of Boyertown, PA and was formerly of King of Prussia, PA. She worked as a teacher's aide for the Upper Merion Area School District. Gwen was a volunteer at Candlebrook Elementary School and the Southeastern Veteran Center. She enjoyed needlepoint, listening to Barry Manilow, and was an avid Phillies fan. Most of all, Gwen loved spending time with her grandsons. Born in Abington, PA on December 4, 1948, she was the daughter of the late Gwendolyn (Bolton) Why. She was the wife of the late Joseph J. Kohler, Jr., who died in 2012. Surviving is her loving family including a son, Thomas J. Kohler and his wife, Katie, of King of Prussia, PA; a daughter, Hope C. Strouse and her husband, Warren, of Boyertown, PA; two grandsons, Jacob and Benjamin Strouse; adopted sisters: Phyllis Morris, Karen McConnell, Debbie Layden and Carol Shirlow; and countless friends. Gwen’s Memorial Service will be held at The Bacchi Funeral Home & Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA on Saturday, July 8, 2017 at 12:00 pm. Relatives and friends may call on Saturday from 10 to 11:50 am, at the funeral home. Interment will be private.
