H. William Schmidt, M.D., F.C.A.P., passed away suddenly on Tuesday, August 21, 2012 at Montgomery Hospital in Norristown, PA. He was 91. Dr. Schmidt was a resident of King of Prussia, PA. He attended Mother of Divine Providence Church, King of Prussia. Dr. Schmidt was a US Army veteran, serving as a Captain in the Medical Corps from 1955 to 1957.Dr. Schmidt's medical education included: Jefferson Medical College, served his internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Lankenau Hospital, and a residency in Pathology at the Medical College of Pennsylvania. He was certified in both the American Board of Clinical Pathology and the American Board of Anatomical Pathology. William had memberships in the following professional organizations: Pennsylvania State Medical Society, Montgomery County Medical Society, College of American Pathologists, American Society of Clinical Pathologists, Pennsylvania Society of Clinical Pathologists, Philadelphia Pathology Society and International Academy of Pathologists. Dr. Schmidt held the following work positions: Assistant Director of Labs, Medical College of Pennsylvania from 1962 to 1964; Pathologist at North Penn Hospital from 1964 to 1966; Associate Director of Laboratories at Montgomery Hospital from 1964 to 1984; and Pathologist at DeKalb Laboratory from 1984 to 1987. He was a past president of the Montgomery County Medical Society and also served as their Treasurer for many years. Dr. Schmidt was a volunteer tax counselor for senior citizens in Upper Merion, was active in local government and was a Chairman of the Sanitary Board of Upper Merion.Born in Philadelphia, PA on January 29, 1921, he was a son of the late William and Hilda (Krahn) Schmidt. Surviving is his loving family including his wife, Marina A. (Juzwiak) Schmidt; a son, Mark F. Schmidt and his wife, Deborah, of Doylestown, PA; and two grandchildren, Mark F. Schmidt, Jr. and Heather J. Schmidt, both of Doylestown.Relatives & friends are invited to Dr. Schmidt's Funeral Mass at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd. King of Prussia, PA 19406 on Friday, August 24, 2012 at 9:30 am. Officiating will be the Rev. Martin T. Cioppi, Pastor. His viewing will be at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Thursday evening only from 6 to 8:00pm. Interment will be private in Mt.
