Harnitchek Harry Edward, 89, of Jenkintown, PA, passed peacefully in his sleep on Sunday, November 26, 2017. Harry was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 11, 1928 and was the son of the late Jane (Strohm) and John Harnitchek. Predeceased by his wife of 63 years, Irene Harnitchek (nee Burke), and his brothers John and Joseph. Survived by his sons VADM Ret. Mark Harnitchek USN (Betty Putnam) of Burke, VA; Craig Harnitchek (Mary V. Burke) of Chestnut Hill, PA; David Harnitchek of Philadelphia, PA; and daughter Ingrid DiGregorio (Dr. Kenneth J. DiGregorio) of Ringoes, NJ. Also survived by grandchildren Gillian Campbell (Tim), CAPT Kyle Harnitchek, USA (Jana), Emma Harnitchek, Harry Harnitchek, Alexander DiGregorio, Olivia DiGregorio and Staci Putnam, and four great grandchildren. Harry received a BS from Millersville University in 1952 following a tour in Europe serving in the U.S. Army Air Corps where he received the WWII Victory Medal and Army of Occupation Medal. During his career as a professional engineer, Harry was employed by area firms including Urban Engineers and Pennoni Associates. Harry enjoyed spending time with family and will be remembered for his humility and generosity. Interment will be private at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, Cheltenham, PA. Services entrusted to Joseph J.
