Harry C. Middleton, III passed away peacefully at Neighborhood Hospice in West Chester, PA. He was 84. Mr. Middleton was a resident of West Chester. He was a US Marine Corps veteran, serving as a Lieutenant in both WW II and the Korean Conflict.Harry worked as a manufacturing representative and was the president of Lighting Associated in Berwyn, PA from 1960 to 1995. He was a member of the Merion Golf Club, Waynesborough Country Club and Hersheys Mill Country Club.Harry was a beloved member of the Lower Merion Basketball family. He was an inaugural member of the Lower Merion Basketball Hall of Fame and helped lead the Aces to state championship victories in 1941 & 1942. He was a first-team All-State selection and team captain in his senior season and went on to play college ball at Cornell University, where he was the first freshman ever to start for the Big Red.Born in Philadelphia, PA on July 13, 1924, he was a son of the late Harry C. Middleton, Jr. and the late Mildred C. (Baer) Middleton. He was preceded in death by his first wife, Margaret. Surviving are his wife of 32 years, Betty Lou (Eich) Middleton; four children, Harry IV, Rand, Jeffrey and Wendy; 8 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; four step-children; and a brother, Jack.Relatives and friends are invited to a Graveside Service at Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, S. Gulph Rd., King of Prussia, PA on Saturday, March 28, 2009 at 12:30pm.The family has asked that donations in Harry's memory be directed to the Lower Merion Basketball Scholarship Fund, c/o the Lower Merion Athletic Office, 245 E.
