Hedy S Weiss

Hedy M. (Sterner) Weiss, age 82, of Gulph Mills, PA, passed away on Sunday, March 3, 2024 in the arms of her husband, after a long battle with cancer and dementia. Beloved wife of Van Weiss. Born in Philadelphia, PA, a resident of King of Prussia, PA since 1952. She graduated from Upper Merion High School, Class of 1959. Hedy was the loving mother of Lauren Weiss, Jennifer Botti (Philip) and Daniel Weiss (Karen); her grandchildren: Philip Botti, Sarah Steerman (Dylan), Rachel Botti, Morgan Weiss, Stow Weiss, Chase Rudolph, Samuel Landon, and Jacob Landon; her great-grandson, Jay Botti; and had a sister, Lynn Schutzman.

Hedy graduated from Franklin School of Arts and Sciences. She was a technical medical secretary for a private practitioner while also continuing to play the guitar in her band “The Sillouette” on the side. Hedy married Van in 1962. She became a Girl Scout leader and moved up on to the Board of Directors of Freedom Valley Girl Scout Council. Hedy also became an elected Committeewoman in Gulph Mills and elected to the Montgomery County Representative of the Republican State Committee. She was one of the founders of the William Penn Charter Book Store and then managed it from 1983-1986.

Hedy and Van enjoyed traveling, their timeshares for over 35 years and cruising even more when Van retired from the practice of law. They were happily married for 61 years and she will truly be missed.

Relatives and friends are invited to attend Hedy’s viewing at The Bacchi Funeral Home, 805 DeKalb St. Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Thursday, March 7, 2024 from 10-11:00am; with her prayer service beginning at 11:00am. Interment will be in Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia, PA.

Due to her love for rescue animals, the family suggests memorial contributions may be made to the Delaware Valley Golden Retriever Recue, 60 Vera Cruz Rd., Reinholds, PA 17569.
