Heeja Yu, 82, of Jenkintown, PA, passed away peacefully on September 21, 2025.
She was born on February 3, 1943, in Kunsan, South Korea, to the late Kye Ja Kim and Kyon Kyang Cha. She spent her early years in Korea and completed four years of college before moving to the United States. After first living in Vermont, she later made her home in Pennsylvania. In addition to her academic studies in Korea, Heeja pursued her passion for creativity and style by attending cosmetology school in the U.S.
Heeja was a woman of many talents and interests. She loved gardening and found joy and peace in tending to her plants. She was also a gifted painter, creating beautiful landscape images that reflected her appreciation for nature’s beauty. Cooking was another of her passions—Heeja delighted in preparing meals for her loved ones, always bringing warmth and care to her kitchen.
Heeja is survived by her loving daughter, Janice Yu and one sister and a brother. She is predeceased by her parents and 10 siblings.
She will be remembered by family and friends as a kind and generous person whose gentle spirit touched all who knew her.
A graveside service will be held at a later date to celebrate her life and legacy.
