Henry John Wajda, Sr.

Henry John Wajda, Sr., of Bensalem, PA passed away peacefully on Wednesday, October 19th, 2022, at Jefferson Torresdale Hospital. He was 90 years old. Henry was born and raised in the Port Richmond section of Philadelphia on February 16, 1932, the youngest of two sons of the late Rozalia (Wnek) and Antoni Wajda. He was a longtime Bensalem resident, and a founding member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Parish in 1976.

He was predeceased by his beloved wife Doris M. (Pytlar) Wajda in 2017. They were married for 57 years. He was also predeceased by his youngest son Christopher, who died in 2020.

A proud graduate of Northeast Catholic High School, Henry went on to earn his Bachelor’s degree in accounting from LaSalle College. Henry proudly served our country in the U.S. Army. After he was honorably discharged, he began his career as an accountant for Philco Finance, Vector United Aircraft, and then working the remainder of his career as an Accountant for the U.S. Defense Department at the Defense Personnel Support Center (DPSC) in South Philadelphia, until his retirement in 1996. He was proud of his Polish heritage, and was fluent in Polish. He loved listening to polka music, going to flea markets with his wife, and watching the Phillies!

Henry is survived by his sons; Henry “Hank” Jr. (Cathy), Anthony (Susan), Kenneth (MaryLee Herrmann), and daughter-in-law Jennifer Wajda (Christopher-deceased). He is also survived by his beloved brother Chester (Barbara). He will be greatly missed by his grandchildren Stephanie (Ted), Matthew, Alexander, Michael, Stephen, Christian, Gabrielle, and Liam Wajda, and his nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to Henry’s Viewing on Friday, October 28, 2022, between 8:30 and 9:30 am at St. Frances Cabrini Catholic Church in Fairless Hills, PA. His funeral Mass will follow at 9:30 AM.

Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, Bensalem, PA.
