Howard J. Williams Jr., 77, of Abington, PA, passed away peacefully on Sunday morning, June 2, 2019 after a short, yet courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. Born in Philadelphia, PA on February 1, 1942, he was the son of the late Rita M. (Caine) and Howard J. Williams Sr. Howard was the beloved husband of Mary C. (McCormick) with whom he shared 56 years of marriage. He is survived by four daughters; Michele Williams, Lynanne Bates (Mark), Kelley McBride (Michael), and Colleen Hill (Marvin). He was an adoring Pop-Pop to eleven grandchildren; Kayla, Lauren, Lindsey, Ian, Casey, Shannon, Sarah, Sean, Kieran, Michael and Colin, and four great grandchildren; Anthony, Giavanna, Grace and Lucas. ASC Williams served his country for twenty-eight years total with the United States Navy both on Active Duty and as a Reservist. Howard was very involved with his community having volunteered with the Roslyn Fire Company where he held many positions over the years, as well as the Montgomery County Hazmat Team. He was employed as a machinist with SPS Technologies for many years before retiring in 2004. Howard enjoyed sharing his Irish heritage and was a longtime member of the Ancient Order of Hibernians Notre Dame Division #1. He marched and played the snare drum with Irish Thunder Pipes & Drums. Howard's love of music motivated him to learn the accordion at the age of sixty, and a few years later, the guitar. Howard was also a member of the Men of Malvern. Howard was a kind and generous person, giving of his time and talents, a true gentleman, with a devilish smile, who enjoyed a hearty laugh. He will be missed by many. Family & Friends are invited to his viewing Monday, June 10, 2019 from 6pm-9pm at the Joseph J. McGoldrick Funeral Home, 507 West Avenue, Jenkintown, PA. A viewing will also be held on Tuesday, June 11, 2019 from 9-9:45am followed by a Funeral Mass at 10am, both at Queen of Peace Church, 820 North Hills Ave, Ardsley, PA. Interment at Washington Crossing National Cemetery.
