Hubert F. (Lou) Legare (Pop-Pop) Hubert F. (Lou) Legare, 85, of Norristown, PA passed away Friday, April 3rd, 2015 peacefully, formerly of Woonsocket, RI. He was a Trooper, PA resident for 49 years. Hubert was born in Woonsocket, RI on October 4, 1929, a son of the late Laura (Fortin), who passed when he was 6, and Donat Legare, and he was the step son of the late Mary Anne Legare. Lou is pre-deceased by his wife Anne (Martin) in 2007, and his brothers Laval, Roger and Robert. Lou is survived by Four Children John (Bobbie) of Hockessin, DE, James of Trooper, PA, Denise Thren (Michael ) of Glenmoore, PA and Linda Hickey (Thomas) of Phoenixville, PA, brother Raymond and sister Lucille Moison, and six grandchildren Renee, Andrew, Gregory, Anthony, James and Daniel and many nieces and nephews. Lou served honorably in the U.S. Army in the Korean War from 1951-1953, where he received the Korean Svc medal, 2 bronze svc stars and the UN svc medal. Upon discharge he married his sweetheart and best friend Anne M. Martin. They were married for 54 years. He worked for General Electric as a technician publications manager in the space division until his retirement in 1991. He also worked for Sperry Univac as a technical writer/editor. He was a life-long member of Visitation BVM Church where he served as head usher. Lou was a member of John Paul I Knights of Columbus Council # 7565. He and his wife Anne donated many years of service to the Legion of Mary. Together they also contributed many hours to Visitation BVM Christmas Bazaar. Growing up Lou played baseball, softball, bowling and Ice Hockey. He enjoyed many family vacations to the beach, Disney World and New England. He played the organ, enjoyed ballroom dancing, golfing and rooting for the Boston Red Sox. He loved to laugh and spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren. Lou maintained a positive outlook on life and touched the lives of many. He will be dearly missed by family and friends.
