Hubert J. Ludwig, Ph.D., passed away peacefully on Sunday, June 19, 2011 at Bryn Mawr Hospital. He was 76. Mr. Ludwig was a resident of E. Norriton, PA. He was a retired math professor at Ball State University in Muncie, Indiana, where he taught from 1968 to 2000. Mr. Ludwig earned his A.A. in Chemical Engineering from Springfield College in 1954, a B.S. in Math with a minor in Chemistry & Physics from the University of Illinois in 1956, a M.S. in 1964 and a Ph. D. in 1968, both in Math at St. Louis University. Hubert's hobbies included hiking, biking, and snowshoeing in the Colorado Rockies. He loved spending time with his grandchildren and attending their field hockey and lacrosse games.Born in Springfield, IL on July 27, 1934, he was the oldest child of the late Charles J. and Marguerite R. (Power) Ludwig. He was the husband of the late Sharon L. (Clements) Ludwig, who died in 2006. Surviving is his loving family including a son, Jonathan Z. Ludwig of Houston, TX; a daughter, Jennifer M. Schauble and her husband, Patrick of Gulph Mills, PA; two granddaughters, Jacqueline and Katherine; two sisters, Margaret Ludwig and Mary Ann Hunt, both of Springfield, IL; and many nephews and nieces. He was preceded in death by a brother, Phillip Ludwig.His Memorial Service will be held at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA 19405 on Friday, June 24, 2011 at 2:00pm. The family will receive relatives and friends on Friday afternoon from 1 to 1:50pm, at the funeral home.
