Ida Dorothy Homa

Ida Dorothy (Jenkins) Homa passed away at home in Swedesburg, PA on Friday night, February 26. She was a vibrant 97 years old. Ida was born to Lena and William Jenkins. She spent her childhood and most of her adult life at her home on Lauman Ave. Trooper, PA. An athlete in her youth, Ida enjoyed swimming and ice skating. She was a graduate of Norristown High School. With her mother, Ida was a founding member of Visitation BVM Church. Ida was married to Andy Homa for over 50 years. They had two children, Susan and Andy. Ida, an accomplished business woman, was a hairdresser for over 30 years. She was the owner of Ida’s Beauty Salon in Collegeville, PA. In the summer, she enjoyed vacationing in Ocean City, NJ. Always creating, Ida was an expert seamstress who made many of her own clothes. Ida also loved to bake. Her pies, especially the cheesecakes, were renowned. Ida loved to host picnics at her beautiful home, and spend time with family and friends. Ida is preceded in death by her beloved husband, parents, sister, and brother. Ida is survived by her children, Susan Butler, wife of Michael (Swedesburg), and Andy, husband to Sharon (Collegeville), ten grandchildren, six great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews. Family and friends are invited to attend a viewing from 9:45 to 10:45 am Monday, March 8, 2021 at Visitation BVM Church, 196 N. Trooper Rd., Norristown, PA 19403 followed by a Funeral Mass at 11 AM Burial will be held privately at St. Valley Forge Memorial Gardens, King of Prussia. Covid-19 guidelines will be followed.
