Irene A. Gillespie

Irene A. Gillespie, 96, of Philadelphia, PA, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, September 27th, 2023, at Artis Memory Care.

Irene was born in Philadelphia, PA on March 26, 1927, born to the late James Smith and the late Irene (nee Cassidy).

She was the widow of Paul Gillespie who passed in 2017. They were married for 69 years.

Irene is survived by her children; Patricia Pasquine (late husband Gary), Timothy (Christine), Christina McCarthy (late husband Albert), Mary McGinly (late husband Jack), the late Michael G.; grandmother of 8 and great-grandmother of 9.

Irene grew up in Philadelphia. She graduated from Little Fower Catholic High School for Girls in 1945. She then attended Chestnut Hill College and graduated in 1949.

Irene was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Irene also loved her Catholic faith, sitting on the porch in Wildwood, reading a book and shopping.

Family and friends are invited to Irene’s visitation on Saturday, October 7, 2023, from 10-10:45 am, followed by her Funeral Mass starting at 11 am both held at St. Ephrem’s Catholic Church, 5400 Hulmeville Rd., Bensalem, PA. Interment at Holy Sepulchre Cemetery, PA.
