Ismael “Sam” Soler, at the age of 71, died surrounded by his family on January 6th, 2019. Sam is survived by his wife Betsy, his daughters Elizabeth (Nelson), Evelyn (Richard) and Emily (J. Isabel) his step children Amy, Sean (Jacqueline) and Matt, his grandchildren Melissa, Jennifer, Yesenia, Brandon, Stephanie, Olivia, Robert, Payton, Alex, Sophia, Maddie, Jonah and Ayla and 3 great grandchildren Levi, Andrew and Grace. He is also preceded in death by his father Julio, his mother Evangelista and brother Julio. Sam was born on November 24, 1947 in Puerto Rico. He was the oldest of 11 children and moved to Philadelphia at the age of 4. He graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Criminal Justice. After 28 years, he retired from the State Correctional Institution at Graterford where he served as a lieutenant. He later worked as a Probation Officer for Montgomery County. In the family life, he was a loving husband, father, stepfather and grandfather. In his social life, his smile led the way to many places especially to the dance floor. He was a great man loved by many. Friends are invited to his viewing on Thursday January 10th, 2019 from 6-9pm at Szpindor-Meyers Funeral Home at 101 N Park Ave, Trooper, PA 19403. Private services will be held on Friday for the family. In lieu of flowers, contributions suggested to the family to help with funeral expenses.
