James T. Concannon

June 18, 1960 — December 29, 2017

James “Chief” Concannon died peacefully in his home surrounded by his loving family on December 29th, 2017 in North Wales, PA at the age of 57. Jim Concannon is survived by his devoted wife, Anne Concannon; his three children, Devin, Brenden, and Lauren; and his brother John. He is preceded in death by his father William, his mother Katherine, and brothers William and Thomas, of Cheltenham, PA. Jim was born on June 18th, 1960 in Abington, PA to William and Katherine Concannon. He is an alumnus of Cheltenham High School class of 1978, holds a degree in Computer Science from Temple University and received his MSA from Central Michigan University. He married Anne Schmidt, his high school sweetheart in 1983. During his years living in both Northeast Philadelphia and North Wales, Jim began working for the federal government’s General Services Administration as a Contracting Officer. Over six years the couple welcomed three children into their home and Jim was a dedicated father for over 33 years. His children remember him as a kind, patient, and intelligent father who encouraged them to pursue their goals. Jim had an amazing work ethic and often would be working multiple jobs for the sole purpose of bettering his family’s circumstances. He was a witty individual with a terrific sense of humor who loved Philadelphia’s sport teams and who was passionate about seeing the world be a more fair and equitable place through political change. He was a dedicated member of the Catholic Church and ran a volunteer organization dedicated to supporting amputees, the Montgomery County Amputee Support Group, of which he was one himself. He will be sorely missed by his wife, children, extended family, and friends. A visitation to pay respects is scheduled for 6-8pm on Friday, January 5th at McGoldrick Funeral Home located at 507 West Ave, Jenkintown, PA 19046. The family is receiving guests from 10-11am prior to the funeral mass, scheduled for 11am January 6th, 2017 at St. Rose of Lima parish, located at 428 S Main St. North Wales, PA 19454.
