James F. "Frank" Deegan passed away peacefully on Sunday, September 28, 2014, surrounded by his loving family at his residence in Eagleville, PA. He was 89. Mr. Deegan worked as a foreman for Tube Methods in Bridgeport, PA. He was a member of Visitation B.V.M. Church, Trooper, PA. Frank was also life member of both the King of Prussia Volunteer Fire Co. and the VFW Post 5642 in Montrose, PA, a Charter member of the 10 Star Sportsman Club in Montrose, PA and a past president of the 30th Infantry Division Association. He was an avid golfer and hunter.Frank was a US Army veteran of WW II, serving as a machine gunner from 1943 to 1946. He participated in the Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland and Ardennes Campaigns. He was wounded in action in Normandy in July 1944, in N. France in September 1944 and in Ardennes in December 1944. Frank received an EAME Ribbon with 4 bronze Battle Stars, 1 bronze Star awarded with V Device, Combat Infantryman Badge, Purple Heart awarded with 2 Oak Leaf clusters, American Theatre Ribbon, Victory Medal and Good Conduct Medal.Born in Primrose, PA on February 1, 1925, he was a son of the late Daniel J. and Laura C. (Walsh) Deegan. He was the husband of the late Philomena F. (Messantonio) Deegan, who died in 2009. Surviving is his loving family including a son, Daniel J. Deegan and his wife, Kathleen, of Collegeville, PA; two daughters, Lorraine Deegan and Janet Bennett, both of Eagleville, PA; five grandchildren: J.T., Derek, Matthew, Patrick and Casey; a brother, John L. "Jack" Deegan and his wife, Marion, of King of Prussia, PA; a sister, Alice M. Deegan of Collegeville, PA; and many other loving family members. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence and Robert Deegan; and two sisters, Claire Deegan and Dolores Saladino.Relatives & friends are invited to Frank's Funeral Mass at Visitation B.V.M. Church, (Lower Church) 196 N. Trooper Rd., Trooper, PA on Friday, October 3, 2014 at 10:00 am. His viewings will be Thursday evening from 6 to 8pm, at The Bacchi Funeral Home and Crematory, Ltd., 805 DeKalb St. (Rt. 202), Bridgeport, PA; also Friday morning from 9 to 9:50 am, at the(Lower)church.
