James R. Dougherty passed away on Tuesday, January 31, 2017 at Chester Valley Nursing & Rehab in Malvern, PA. He was 84. Mr. Dougherty was a resident of Chesterbrook, PA and was formerly of King of Prussia, PA. He was the owner of Dougherty Printing in Bridgeport, PA for 35 years, until his retirement in 2007. He was a member of St. Isaac Jogues Church in Wayne, PA. Born in Philadelphia, PA on May 25, 1932, he was a son of the late John and Dorothy (Carey) Melvin. He was the husband of the late Lorraine H. (Hogan) Dougherty, who died in 2006. Surviving is his loving family including two sons, Paul C. Dougherty of Spring City, PA and Christopher P. O’Melvin and his wife, Nicole, of Flourtown, PA; a daughter, Jennifer Brodie and her husband, Allen, of Kimberton, PA; four grandchildren: Allison (Patrick) Rowland, Jacob Brodie & Liam and Eva O’Melvin; and one great-grandson, Rosco Rowland. Preceded in death by two brothers, Daniel and Dennis Dougherty. Relatives & friends are invited to James’ Funeral Mass at St. Isaac Jogues Church, 50 W. Walker Rd., Wayne, PA on Friday, February 3, 2017 at 10:00 am. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in James’ memory to the Salesian Sisters of St. John Bosco, c/o Sr. Mary Rinaldi Development Office, 659 Belmont Ave., N. Haledon, NJ 07508.
