James E. “Doc” Dougherty

James E. "Doc" Dougherty passed away January 22, 2024 at his home in Jeffersonville—surrounded by his loving family. He was 83. Jim was a member of Mother of Divine Providence Church in King of Prussia, where he was head usher.  He worked his whole career at Bell Telephone/AT&T. He loved playing golf, cards, bocce, and Charlie Rich—when he wasn’t wood working or rooting on the Eagles. Doc was a singer and a dancer, who loved most of all being with his wife Carole and his family.

Born in Philadelphia on March 1, 1940, he was a son of the late Lillian E. (Clawges) and William F. Dougherty, Jr.

Surviving is his loving family including his beloved wife of 61 years, Carole V. (Szastynski) Dougherty; son, Brian Dougherty (Luciana); daughter, Lynn Jenkins (Sonny); four grandchildren, Brandon, Shannon, Katherine and Grace; as well as many other loving family members and friends. James is preceded in death by his brother, William F. Dougherty.

The family will receive relatives and friends on Saturday, January 27, 2024 from 9:30-10:15am at Mother of Divine Providence Church, 333 Allendale Rd., King of Prussia, PA, with a Funeral Mass beginning at 10:30am. Words of Remembrance will begin prior to Mass at 10:20am.

Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery, W. Conshohocken, PA.
